Catherine was raised by her parents with the sole expectation that she would marry the king and become Queen of their country - Hearts. They never seemed to care that she had her own dreams, namely to open up the finest bakery in the entire kingdom. And not end up married to a man she didn't love and could barely stand to be around. Especially not after she fell in love with someone else. IN GAME HISTORY:As teacher's in public school, Catherine's parents didn't have a lot of money at any point in their marriage. But what they did have was a lot of love. For each other and for their only daughter when she arrived in the spring of 1996. A little girl they named Catherine Pinkerton, a name her grandmother shortened to Cath before they even got her out of the hospital.
From the time she could walk, Cath's parents were unable to keep her out of the kitchen with them and by the time she was 8 they were letting her help them cook. And her love of baking was born that Thanksgiving when she was put in charge (with her mother's supervision of course) of making the Pumpkin Pie for their dinner. There was something really amazing to her about putting all of the various ingredients together and coming up with something that tasted so much better than any of them separately. As she grew older that love of baking just kept growing and by the time she was 16 she'd decided that she wanted to go to culinary school.
Knowing that her parents didn't have the money to pay for that she got a job as a waitress at a local restaurant after school and on weekends, saving up every penny she made so that she could pay for school herself. And she kept working there after she graduated high school, working full time for a year before moving to California and enrolling in school there. She knew from the moment she arrived where she wanted to work, who she wanted to work with and after a lot of hard work she finally managed to get an interview with the owner, hoping to get to continue learning as their apprentice baker and then figuring out the next step in her future then.
I never thought I'd be saying this but I think I need a break from the kitchen for a few hours. I just told my coworker that I still needed to do stuff to the caramel before the dessert would be ready and it took me a couple of minutes to realize why he was looking at me strange. It made sense in my head! I knew what I had to do and summing it up as 'stuff' saved time.
